JUNE 2, 2010
Cassette NYC throws down in the month of June with two dope parties to remember. If you didn't know, Cassette's Natalie Weiss and Machinedrum have collaborated on a musical called Camp Wanatachi. Its a quirky affair boasting an entire score by Mr. Drum himself. After this Friday, June 4th's showing of the musical, Cassette and Bridget Regan present an after party of theatrical proportions featuring Machinedrum, Lando Kal of Lazersword & Numbers fame and Fishcerspooner's Casey Spooner. Check the facebook invite here!
Later this month, on June 26th, Percussion Lab & Cassette NYC team up to bring you Hyperdub's own dub police don LD alongside FaltyDL, Alex Incyde & the ever revolving resident Cassette tag team crew. This night, Lando kal, Eliot Lipp & Sepalcure will be holding it down from 11 - 12:30 so get there early.
We're extremely excited to host LD, one of dubstep's most elusive yet influential bass technicians. LD's sound is his own. Drawing on his roots, you can hear the drum pan sounds of Jamaica resonating throughout, flashes of Soca drums, subtle tribal nuances, and the ghost of Jungle reverberating in the warm, pulsating sub bass. Don't sleep - if you haven't heard this man work his magic on the decks yet, be sure to check his exclusive podcast for Big Up Magazine!
So basically folks, your month should go like this. Cassette. Dubwar 5 Year Anniversary (Featuring DMZ's Mala & Pokez). Cassette. We'll be the bookends to your summertime month of bass.
Enjoy this little slice of Cassette...
