Commissioned for an Album showcase mix by Mary Anne Hobbs and featured on Rob Booth’s Electronic Explorations, twenty five year old Daniel Richmond had arrived. Emerging from the unknown in 2009 with is self-titled Album – Clubroot, with a sound oozing a uniquely tailored depth & atmosphere. This sound coming out of St Albans, Hertfordshire via Portland, Oregon was his debut release on the bass obsessed LoDubs imprint.
University paid dividends for a young producer with a love for the electronic splattering of D n B, Uk Garage, House and Techno. At university he was happily exposed to Mary Anne Hobbs’ Dubstep Warz Show in 2006 and the likes of Skream, Vex’d and Loefah before his taste progressed to a deeper moodier side of the dubstep spectrum. His sound now perhaps reflex some of the tones inspired by the likes of Burial and Distance.
His final year project entitled ‘Embryo’ gathered interest and Clubroot found himself with a album release. Critics ears were pricked by this debut and radiant reviews were thrown his way, deservedly solidifying an excellent release.
His 2nd Album due for release around May, followed by an E.P, as well as plenty of collaborations in the pipe line, Clubroot is sure to create a big impact this year. You can grab a pre-order here on Boomkat, but for now here is 30min serving to give you a taste of his future sound.
