In 2006 canadian jungle djs kgbkid and djk joined creative forces and put out some bootlegs under the moniker "RIAA's Most Wanted". This shit blew me away. The way they seamlessly blended hip hop acapellas with the jump up and jungle styles was something I had never heard done this well before. At the time the only thing similar I could find was being done by san fransiscan(?) dj audio1.
I remember as soon as I got these tunes I proceeded to chop them into a million pieces and started to fuck with them. Over the years I kept going back to these sounds as my "go to" sounds whenever I just wanted to mess around with stuff.
Unfortunately I never saved a copy of the original bootlegs.( and I can't seem to find them anymore ) In short, I'm not quite sure how close to the originals these tunes I've used in this mix really are. hopefully they are a decent representation of the originals and I haven't reworked the life out of them.
It's kind of a flashback mix for some, but I'm sure there's some people that never got a chance to hear this stuff and due to it's lack of availability I figured I'd throw some of my favorites together into a mix. I hope someone out there digs this shit as much as I did when I first heard it.
