I've known Josh "Kryptonite" McGinn since 1998 or 1999 - you know us old ravers, can't remember the 90's at all. We met because of our shared passion for the darker sounds of drum'n'bass; my partner and I were throwing parties at the time featuring Bad Company, Total Science, Asides, and the like. Josh and I even had a class together at some point, but he left Athens right after graduation and has been in Atlanta, raising a family and perfecting his skills on the decks ever since.
Kryptonite made the jump to dubstep fairly recently, having moved from pushing strictly dnb to incorporating bassline house, electro, and other club sounds into his sets. Repping Trillbass, ATL Basswars, and the mighty Household Management, Kryptonite is an in demand DJ across the Atlanta scene. His hard hitting mix kicks off the Atlanta series with a very Southern take on dubstep - call it dirty south dubstep, crunkstep, ghettostep, or whatever, Atlanta is its home. Enjoy, and stay tuned for more mixes from Atlanta's leading lights.
