Ronen Givony - The Varieties of Ambient Experience
Small_praveen
A Wordless Music Mix.

Nonesuch Records' Ronen Givony is the founder of NYC's Wordless Music. To date, this concert series boasts a staggeringly diverse roster of artists, including the acclaimed Sigur Ros, Andrew Bird, Deerhoof, Beirut, Explosions in the Sky, Mum, The Books, Grizzly Bear, and Stars of the Lid. These performances are often intermixed with the music of Bach, Haydn, Debussy, Shostakovich, Messiaen, Ligeti, Steve Reich, and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, against the meticulously-curated backdrop of NY's most unforgettable spaces. In 2008 Village Voice's Best of NYC Award for "Moderately Snooty Concert Series" went to ... Wordless Music.

This mix is a glimpse at the music and artists which helped define Wordless Music. Its a extensive foray into the hushed, arrestingly meditative side of electronic, classical and indie rock music.

I don't want to be a hater, but one thing I love about this mix (out of many) is the absence of Sigur Ros.

This is nice... and goes well with the slow, intermittent rumble of a German washing machine that is currently in (my) background.
