In the last days of 2010, Bombey and me (dj snobo) decided that it’s finally the time to record another Rasolnik, and an ambient one. This time each of us made a bit more preparations in advance, selection-wise (normally, an hardcore-classic Rasolnik should be as much improv as possible). Bombey even caught a spoken word virus and spent a few nights collecting stories about UFOs from TV shows around the world, so it has become our first “thematic” Rasolnik – an idea we’ve been nurturing for a long time… But the recording process was as usual – no agreements, just pure back-to-back on two laptops with FXs, deep transitions and multi-layering, and some surprises for ourselves. We had a lot of fun mixing it, and hope you will have too listening, so – ladies and gentlemen, enjoy the flight!

This was recorded live @ Sound Forrest (www.skanumezs.lv), annual festival of adventurous music in Riga, Latvia, on a Friday night of 2010.09.10.

We were honored to open this particular night early enough, in a secondary hall with all the headliners playing in a bigger one; so we enjoyed the total emptiness of the room, the reverberating acoustics and the general feeling of unnecessity being there at that moment. This was all multiplied by the spookiness of the abandoned building the event was held at, and which apparently saved the mix from a failure, which we (at least some of us) initially stamped all over it before we had a listen of the recording. On the contrary, it happened to be a classic unpredictable, free-flowing, crazy, multi-mood Rasolnik - enough twists to surprise even ourselves. Hope it will surprise you too!
